First time in the estuary for a long time. High water just after 2pm but rain forecast later in the day so went down at 9am to have a look... First looked like 7m weather but after a cup of tea decided on the 9m Switchblade. As always on an easterly the wind was up and down during the day, but 9m covered most of the morning pretty well. Two trips across to Aberdovey beach - its not far across the final deep part of the channel, but always feels adventurous (probably the thought of a 25 mile walk back..). More blasting along on the mirror smooth water behind the sandbanks:) A few (~6) other kites out and two windsurfers. Suddenly I was starting to have that 'hanging on' feeling rather than enjoying it. White water appearing all over the estuary - determined that it was time for a bite to eat. (Thanks for the cuppa Badger) Rigged the 7m for another session, but even before it was ready wind was easing, did have a go for half hour or so but it wasn't really enough, although in the gusts I'd have been hanging on to the 9. Just typical gusty offshore winds. Good day though and a bit of a novelty on flat water for a change, although even then there was a horrible knee bashing chop on the southward tack in the deeper areas.
